As the temperatures continue to rise in most of the country, House of Oilworx has moved into “Summer Shipping” mode. What does this mean and why is it necessary? Read on to find out more.
WHAT IS SUMMER SHIPPING?
We have made some accommodations to make shipping things that might melt during the summer more feasible. All packages that contain products that might melt and are shipped during high heat times will be packed with thermal wrap and/or contain gel ice packs (These are reusable so that you can get some use out of them too!) All summer orders containing these products will also be shipped USPS Priority Mail if out of state so as to get it to you as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Products will ONLY be shipped on a day that ensures the shortest travel time to you. If you are 2 days priority mail from me, I will not ship later in the week than Wednesday so the package is received by Friday. If you are 1 day priority mail from me, I will ship up to Thursday morning. 3 day priority mail will not ship after Tuesday afternoon. This is to ensure that your package is not sitting in a hot warehouse all weekend.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?
Glad you asked! We can only send it on it’s way with the best chance we can offer it for survival in the heat. We can’t control what happens once USPS drops it off to you. Mailboxes can get insanely hot in the summer, as can packages left out on a porch, in the sun, on a hot day.
Please keep an eye on tracking so you can grab your package as soon as it arrives or have the items shipped where you can easily intercept the package to ensure it is not sitting in the heat for extended periods of time.
MY PRODUCTS MELTED ANYWAY!
If your product does melt or get soft, in spite of the efforts we have made to prevent it, please don’t worry! A melted product is not always a bad product…I promise.
Leave your product at room temperature for a couple hours or pop it in the fridge for a little while, then softly shake it to break the softgels apart. If the balm has melted, It may look a little different but it will still be the same super nourishing balm after it hardens.
If your products are beyond repair, please send pictures of the product to admin@houseofoilworx and let us know as soon as possible.
WHICH PRODUCTS DOES THIS AFFECT?
Softgels and edibles are the most sensitive to heat of all the products we offer. This will be the ones to really watch for.
The Beeswax Balm Stick and Beeswax Balm Container can be affected by high heat, though they usually hold up well with summer shipping. If they do melt, you can firm it back up by taking it out of the heat or refrigerate for a little bit.
TIPS FOR CARE AFTER DELIVERY
Now that you’ve gotten your products safe and sound, here are a couple notes for caring for your products after you have received them….
- DO NOT LEAVE PRODUCTS IN CAR!
Cars get VERY hot in the summer and the excessive heat can quickly melt products. The continual melting and hardening as you crank up the air conditioning and then melt again as it heats up after you leave again is not good for the product.
- KEEP PRODUCT AWAY FROM DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.
This can also change the texture and stability of your product, and even melt it in some cases. Some of the oils used are very delicate and sensitive to the UV rays from the sun. It’s best to keep products in cool places out of direct sunlight.
